Generally you end up giving up your business ticket and sitting in the back. They'll be happy to accept your more valuable ticket. Unfortunately, you don't get that refunded, so if you're going to try for C it's recommended that you have one of each ticket, then get the unused coupon refunded.

In one year, they will go with our system with a few changes, but not the UAL system which is more complicated. For now, we had to learn their system whenever we get their planes we must work on, so not fully integrated yet. We've merged for about a year now.
Zomg, Palms! you think UA's systems are hard?? I had the misfortune of using Sceptre with US, and it's a big POS (my opinion, obv). I personally think Unimatic is simple. What's really gonna be interesting is when they get the Sceptre-ized electronic logbook going (NOT). I shudder to think of when that time comes. Btw we were told that's still a year away at least.

On US, you can purchase a ZED Business class ticket for LH, UA and TP (TAP Portugal). Not sure what happens though if you purchase a zed business ticket and end up flying in the back. Since these are all Star carriers and US will be leaving Star for Oneworld, this benefit will most likely disappear. However, as I stated before, it would be nice if a ZED Business class arrangement could be set up with other Oneworld carriers.

    Thanks for the followup

AA’s non-rev boarding is based on a combination of boarding priority and check-in time (FCFS).

Sooo...With One world and Star Alliance, as an American and US Airlines non rev traveler, when flying on one of those member airlines, do you fly ZED or just normal payroll deduction in coach?

I can guess he was in uniform? If not, extremely rare on zed, but a good thing nonetheless. Rare to even have a front seat open!! Maybe gate agent was as stunned as your friend!
