On US, you can purchase a ZED Business class ticket for LH, UA and TP (TAP Portugal). Not sure what happens though if you purchase a zed business ticket and end up flying in the back. Since these are all Star carriers and US will be leaving Star for Oneworld, this benefit will most likely disappear. However, as I stated before, it would be nice if a ZED Business class arrangement could be set up with other Oneworld carriers.
Generally you end up giving up your business ticket and sitting in the back. They'll be happy to accept your more valuable ticket. Unfortunately, you don't get that refunded, so if you're going to try for C it's recommended that you have one of each ticket, then get the unused coupon refunded.

Sooo...With One world and Star Alliance, as an American and US Airlines non rev traveler, when flying on one of those member airlines, do you fly ZED or just normal payroll deduction in coach?
As an AA non rev traveling on a OW airline or other airline, we purchase a paper zed at a zed low rate for most OW airlines and zed medium for other airlines. Listing to create the zed reservation takes place over the phone and the purchase (and refund) takes place at the airport using a credit card. Two exceptions (there may be more) are for travel on BA and IB whereby the transaction can be done over the phone with a credit card and instead of a paper zed, an ezed is issued. No visit to the airport is required. The process is supposed to go electronic for all airlines some time this quarter.
