You do not need to list with AF (at least it was still like that 2 monthes ago) but it is recommended to avoid being the last on the priority list.
Attention if you are not an AF employee it is impossible to list in France I always do it from the Usa, you call the regular number and ask for their nonrev desk, in french it is called "GP".
